Gone Old School.

So I've spent pretty much the whole day (meaning after about 4pm) watching the old school Ninja Turtles tv show. This has taken me way back to when I was a kid... Kinda crazy how much of this I actually remembered.

What's really weird though... is being single again. I actually enjoy it. I think it has brought my outgoing side out. Also, I've been noticing girls that I never really thought about before. It's been a while since I've been single and I'm not quite used to it yet. But I'm having fun.

first week

So, the first week of classes are over. Technically, it's only my first two days - seeing as how I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm actually updating from Nick Courtney's pc at the moment. Micah is playing his 360. We're gonna get outta here in a bit.

My astronomy class was pretty tense on Thursday. Dr. McGruder, the instructor, came in and said, "Science, in a broad sense, is asking quesitons." So, from that moment on, for the entire hour and 20 minutes, the rest of the class asked some questions... some were actually fairly good questions... others, not so much. It was just kinda painful to go the entire hour and 20 minutes just asking questions... some of them were very ridiculous.

Teisha and I had a very good conversation on Wednesday. Stayed up until about 2, central time, and just talked. It's been a while since we just talked. She really does a lot of the talking, I'll admit that... but I kinda opened up this time. It felt really good.

Well, I'm gonna stop ranting now and get on with my life.

rocking

I feel like today has been such a waste. I woke up with the intention of finding a new job, seeing as how I left my old one in Knoxville. I really want a job at Blockbuster, and I have for several years. So, I go to the Blockbuster on Scottsville Road (or Pike or whatever), and I see a paper saying that they are hiring, which gets me all excited. I walk in and ask for an application and they have none. The guy working there sends me to another store not too far away. They don't have any applications either, but the girl sends me to yet another store, also not far away. I walk in and the girl there says that they are also out of applications. She advises me that my best bet would be to get a resume and turn it in Monday morning. I would apply online, but these three stores are franchised and you can't apply for franchised stores online. sucks. So, I just came back to the room after I put in an application for a music store.

I've been listening to my new music since I got back. A lot of Frou Frou, Iron and Wine, OK Go, Broken Social Scene, and Fort Minor. Basically, stuff that I haven't really listened to before. I already had a bit of some of them, but not much... I'm just listening to stuff I just recently got.

My roommate just walked in a few minutes ago with an army recruiter. I didn't really know what to think. I think he may be going into the army reserves. Not sure, I had my iPod stuffed up my ears and I didn't listen. All I saw was my roommate stand up and pull up his shirt. Dunno what that was all about, perhaps checking his abs or something.. i dunno... nor do I want to. They left just a while ago.

Tomorrow... I'm going to head down to the computer lab and print some of the research off that I emailed myself and I'll probably head up to the forensics office as well. See what I can get done tomorrow. I really want to make some headway on my informative speech.

Oh, Teisha... two things.
1. I like OK Go.
2. I love you.

30 minutes and counting

So, I'm glad to see that Teisha is now posting here. I guess it's another way for us to be together.

So, I only have about thirty minutes here, so I'll try to fill as much time as possible with as many words as I can. I have a poker tournament coming up in a bit. I'm playing a free game with awards for the top 100 players. This is the return of my online poker days. If any of my readers out there (if there are any) actually play on PartyPoker.net, my s/n is McManus17 (after the McManus or MacManus bros. from Boondock Saints).

I've spent most of my day working up in the forensics office. I finally have an idea of what I want to do for my informative speech and even a persuasive. I would like to get into a prose and a duo if possible. I spent about 5 hours up there researching the topics. There are some really interesting things. I might even call one of the contacts that I found for a company invovled in my informative speech. I'm excited.

I also have LOST season 2 on preorder and I started watching my season 1 last night. I made it through the first half of the first pilot episode. I need to get updated on what happened in the first season. It's been a while since I've watched it... plus season 3 premieres in October.

My roommate walked in this morning. I don't really know what to think yet. I was on my laptop looking for topics and he caught me in my pajamas before I had my shower. All I remember is he had an earring in the upper ear. He has apparently been back since I left cause there's a little bit more stuff here... but I think he may be driving home and back several times, cause I've been back here for a while now and I haven't seen him again. We'll see how this goes.

Out of Motown and into BG

So, I finally got to Bowling Green and I'm moved into my dorm room... haven't met the roomie though. I'm updating from the forensics offices on campus. I'm excited to get this started again. I'm just sorta listening to the iPod and waiting to get something started with one of the coaches. I really want to get a prose started along with an informative and some other speeches. I'm really excited.

My dorm isn't all that bad. The room is actually laid out fairly well... everything except the ethernet connection... sorta sucks. We'll see how things go.

Another Customer Service Rant

Man, the last few weeks have been insane. The next few are gonna be even more so. If you haven't managed to find out, I'm leaving for Western Kentucky University in a week. The excitement is growing. Nick and I went to Dollywood to chill and hang out for a bit a few days ago. I swear, that kid is so much like me and also so very different at the same time. We got caught in a nice storm on the way home and we stopped by Wal*Mart in Jeffco, where the power went out... quite surprising. I guess I just didn't expect the power to go out in Wal*Mart.
Teisha and I have hung out a few times since my last update. We went to see Talladega Nights, which was funny, but sorta stupid at times... but that's pretty much what I expected. She came to my house a few days ago and we just sorta chilled and watched a bunch of movies. It stormed pretty badly this night too. The power went out at my house and we were out for about two hours. I'm gonna miss her, but I'm sure we'll make it. We've done long distance for almost a year now (we've been dating for a year and five months as of 8/7/06). I will miss her, but I am ready to get back to doing what I love doing.
What else to talk about? I'm sorry, but once again I have to bring up customer service. I know that many of you probably got annoyed with my rantings on how much I hate customer service last year, and how everybody is so freaking stupid... but I'm kinda over that now. However, I did have one particular customer today who is worth mentioning. The first time I ever got cursed while on the job. This woman comes up to the booth wanting to buy a membership and she asks if she can redeem parking. We tell her that we are not allowed to redeem parking, that's always been the rule. We are not supposed to redeem or refund parking. So, we tell her and she blows up. She starts quoting our ads saying that it is false advertising and I tell her that there is really nothing we can do because we are not allowed to do anything about parking. Sometimes I can bend these rules a bit because being a nice customer really does pay off. Had she been nice, I probably would have immediately refunded the parking. But instead, she decides to shred the membership application in front of us, shove it through the opening under our window and says, "Well, you can just shove it up your ass." Keep in mind that parking is only $3. I'm just kinda tired of people blowing up on me and my coworkers for policies and ads that we did not create. Needless to say, her PMSing (which it turns out was probably what it was) and the almighty dollar won in the end. She got her refund and went to buy pads with it. So, the lesson here is blow up on the people who actually make the rules, not the ones who follow them (unless the rules shouldn't be followed, in which case pretty much defeats the purpose of a rule).

Ricky Bobby

Talladega Nights wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Normally, I hate anything NASCAR, mostly because I'll die of boredom.

There's not been much going on for the past few days. Teisha and I went for a little bit of shopping after the movie last night. Went to Rue 21 and I bought a nice white button up with cufflinks for $19.99. It was a good buy.

When I got home, I found six DVD's waiting for me in the mail. I was very happy. I got The Patriot, Gladiator, Dr. Strangelove, The Godfather, and Fun with Dick and Jane. I was pretty excited.

I don't really have much else to report, I just felt like updating. I'm really excited about Western. For the first time since my audition, I had a forensics nightmare two nights ago. If you don't count the audition nightmares, it's the first time I've had a forensics nightmare in about three years. Anyway, I'm outta here.

My Fascination with Dom Monaghan and Zach Braff

Wow, I just found out that this post has been a draft for about a week or so. Weird.

So, apparently, sometime last week I thought about why I'm so fascinated with Dominic Monaghan and Zach Braff. I guess my fascination with Dom comes from watching the cast interviews and stuff on the LOTR discs. My Zach Braff fascination definitely comes from Scrubs and then Garden State. I've joked around with Teisha and I've said that I would turn gay for one of them if I ever got the chance, but that's not true. If I got the opportunity to kiss one of them, I'd probably do it just to be able to say that I did. But I wouldn't go gay for one of them.

I do want to name my first son after Dom, though... ironically, I want to name my first daughter after Dom's wife, Evangeline Lily (both star in LOST!!!). But anyway, that's about it for now.

RIP dear Xbox and PC

It looks like God is trying to punish me for all of my gaming. At least the desktop is still working. So, if you bothered to read the last post "Take THAT Boston College" you probably gathered that I was getting back into my college football game. I had my teams picked and had even created a player for every team and had played a game with two of them. I was happy with it. Today, after work, as I dropped off Final Destination 3 (which wasn't all that good) and Burnout Revenge (also not that good), I figured I'd get one of remotes for the xbox and the thing you plug into it to be able to watch DVDs on the xbox. So, I bought it for 20 bucks and I come home, wanting to pop NCAA 06 and resume my playing. However, the xbox apparently had decided that it had had enough. It stops working. I attempted to load a game, but I get this clicking sound along with a message saying that my xbox needed to be serviced. Turns out, something's up with the driver and I'd have to send it in to get it fixed... but the bad news is that the warranty has expired... so it would cost $70 to get it fixed, barring any sort of previous tampering (which I hope hasn't occurred). Dunno what I'm gonna do there.

Also, just a few minutes ago, I tried to turn the laptop on and it decided that it was also not going to work. Don't know what was going on, but it kept restarting on itself without getting set up. It would turn on for a couple of seconds, and then shut right back off. I think it had something to do with whatever happened to it when I played The Movies last (which is a good game, I recommend it to any Sims fans out there). The screen was getting all these yellow streaks on it and it was emitting some sort of fuzzy sound... (WHITE NOISE anyone?) and I just shut it off. Just about three minutes into this post, it thought "hmmm, I think I've caused Drew enough trouble for tonight, I'll turn on now." And it is now working... So the laptop is okay (I hope).

But unfortunately, the Xbox is still deceased. RIP Xbox.

Take THAT Boston College

Okay, so I am officially a dork... we have that established.

I got bored yesterday at home with not much to do, so I decided to get back into NCAA 2006 seeing as how the season's getting ready to start again. I chose 12 teams to play for, 1 in each conference. I have Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas A & M, Oregon, Fresno St., Kent St., Louisville, Army, Colorado St., Troy St., and Southern Mississippi. Last night, I played two games. Texas A&M/Boston College and Miami/Florida. I won both games, but they were both tough. Nearly lost the BC game had it not been for a very timely interception. It's actually fun. I put myself on every team as the starting freshman QB. I can imagine that I'll be having fun with this at Western.

In other news... I'm really getting into David McCullough's book 1776.

Getting my ass outta Tennessee

It's tough to concentrate with The 40 Year Old Virgin in the background. Steve Carrell is brilliant! But on to the topic...

I'm really excited to be going to Western Kentucky. It's my third school in three years and I think I'll really find a home there. I did forensics all through high school, and I'll be getting back into it at WKU. I feel like I'm getting a second chance at Western and I don't want to screw that up at all. I'll be in a completely different state, about five hours away from home... I'll really be out on my own, which reminds me, I need to find a job. I'm kinda scared about my new roommate. I'm afraid that he'll turn out just like Josh, who pissed on the floor three times during the year. If you've read my lj, you've heard my rants about him. We probably had about five conversations the entire year and it was just generally an uncomfortable situation. I've already searched my new roommate on facebook (haven't googled him yet... hmmmm) and he kinda fits in the same general group as Josh. I don't want to have another semester like that. I want an awesome semester. I'm ready.

In other news, I had car trouble today. Not too surprising, considering how all of my cars have been. I was stuck at Pilot for about an hour and a half with a steaming hot car and nothing to do but read and take a nap. So, I did just that. Towing guys said there was a leak in the battery, so mom got a new one. Nothing big. Now my car's battery has a three year warranty. The next Harry Potter book should be released by the time my battery messes up again. Or at least I hope so.

A New Era

To commemorate my extremely high level of boredom and total lack of anything else to do... plus the fact that I will be in a whole new state in a month, I figured I'd start a new project. So, here's to the beginning of a new era.
