RIP dear Xbox and PC

It looks like God is trying to punish me for all of my gaming. At least the desktop is still working. So, if you bothered to read the last post "Take THAT Boston College" you probably gathered that I was getting back into my college football game. I had my teams picked and had even created a player for every team and had played a game with two of them. I was happy with it. Today, after work, as I dropped off Final Destination 3 (which wasn't all that good) and Burnout Revenge (also not that good), I figured I'd get one of remotes for the xbox and the thing you plug into it to be able to watch DVDs on the xbox. So, I bought it for 20 bucks and I come home, wanting to pop NCAA 06 and resume my playing. However, the xbox apparently had decided that it had had enough. It stops working. I attempted to load a game, but I get this clicking sound along with a message saying that my xbox needed to be serviced. Turns out, something's up with the driver and I'd have to send it in to get it fixed... but the bad news is that the warranty has expired... so it would cost $70 to get it fixed, barring any sort of previous tampering (which I hope hasn't occurred). Dunno what I'm gonna do there.

Also, just a few minutes ago, I tried to turn the laptop on and it decided that it was also not going to work. Don't know what was going on, but it kept restarting on itself without getting set up. It would turn on for a couple of seconds, and then shut right back off. I think it had something to do with whatever happened to it when I played The Movies last (which is a good game, I recommend it to any Sims fans out there). The screen was getting all these yellow streaks on it and it was emitting some sort of fuzzy sound... (WHITE NOISE anyone?) and I just shut it off. Just about three minutes into this post, it thought "hmmm, I think I've caused Drew enough trouble for tonight, I'll turn on now." And it is now working... So the laptop is okay (I hope).

But unfortunately, the Xbox is still deceased. RIP Xbox.

Take THAT Boston College

Okay, so I am officially a dork... we have that established.

I got bored yesterday at home with not much to do, so I decided to get back into NCAA 2006 seeing as how the season's getting ready to start again. I chose 12 teams to play for, 1 in each conference. I have Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas A & M, Oregon, Fresno St., Kent St., Louisville, Army, Colorado St., Troy St., and Southern Mississippi. Last night, I played two games. Texas A&M/Boston College and Miami/Florida. I won both games, but they were both tough. Nearly lost the BC game had it not been for a very timely interception. It's actually fun. I put myself on every team as the starting freshman QB. I can imagine that I'll be having fun with this at Western.

In other news... I'm really getting into David McCullough's book 1776.

Getting my ass outta Tennessee

It's tough to concentrate with The 40 Year Old Virgin in the background. Steve Carrell is brilliant! But on to the topic...

I'm really excited to be going to Western Kentucky. It's my third school in three years and I think I'll really find a home there. I did forensics all through high school, and I'll be getting back into it at WKU. I feel like I'm getting a second chance at Western and I don't want to screw that up at all. I'll be in a completely different state, about five hours away from home... I'll really be out on my own, which reminds me, I need to find a job. I'm kinda scared about my new roommate. I'm afraid that he'll turn out just like Josh, who pissed on the floor three times during the year. If you've read my lj, you've heard my rants about him. We probably had about five conversations the entire year and it was just generally an uncomfortable situation. I've already searched my new roommate on facebook (haven't googled him yet... hmmmm) and he kinda fits in the same general group as Josh. I don't want to have another semester like that. I want an awesome semester. I'm ready.

In other news, I had car trouble today. Not too surprising, considering how all of my cars have been. I was stuck at Pilot for about an hour and a half with a steaming hot car and nothing to do but read and take a nap. So, I did just that. Towing guys said there was a leak in the battery, so mom got a new one. Nothing big. Now my car's battery has a three year warranty. The next Harry Potter book should be released by the time my battery messes up again. Or at least I hope so.

A New Era

To commemorate my extremely high level of boredom and total lack of anything else to do... plus the fact that I will be in a whole new state in a month, I figured I'd start a new project. So, here's to the beginning of a new era.
