Another Customer Service Rant

Man, the last few weeks have been insane. The next few are gonna be even more so. If you haven't managed to find out, I'm leaving for Western Kentucky University in a week. The excitement is growing. Nick and I went to Dollywood to chill and hang out for a bit a few days ago. I swear, that kid is so much like me and also so very different at the same time. We got caught in a nice storm on the way home and we stopped by Wal*Mart in Jeffco, where the power went out... quite surprising. I guess I just didn't expect the power to go out in Wal*Mart.
Teisha and I have hung out a few times since my last update. We went to see Talladega Nights, which was funny, but sorta stupid at times... but that's pretty much what I expected. She came to my house a few days ago and we just sorta chilled and watched a bunch of movies. It stormed pretty badly this night too. The power went out at my house and we were out for about two hours. I'm gonna miss her, but I'm sure we'll make it. We've done long distance for almost a year now (we've been dating for a year and five months as of 8/7/06). I will miss her, but I am ready to get back to doing what I love doing.
What else to talk about? I'm sorry, but once again I have to bring up customer service. I know that many of you probably got annoyed with my rantings on how much I hate customer service last year, and how everybody is so freaking stupid... but I'm kinda over that now. However, I did have one particular customer today who is worth mentioning. The first time I ever got cursed while on the job. This woman comes up to the booth wanting to buy a membership and she asks if she can redeem parking. We tell her that we are not allowed to redeem parking, that's always been the rule. We are not supposed to redeem or refund parking. So, we tell her and she blows up. She starts quoting our ads saying that it is false advertising and I tell her that there is really nothing we can do because we are not allowed to do anything about parking. Sometimes I can bend these rules a bit because being a nice customer really does pay off. Had she been nice, I probably would have immediately refunded the parking. But instead, she decides to shred the membership application in front of us, shove it through the opening under our window and says, "Well, you can just shove it up your ass." Keep in mind that parking is only $3. I'm just kinda tired of people blowing up on me and my coworkers for policies and ads that we did not create. Needless to say, her PMSing (which it turns out was probably what it was) and the almighty dollar won in the end. She got her refund and went to buy pads with it. So, the lesson here is blow up on the people who actually make the rules, not the ones who follow them (unless the rules shouldn't be followed, in which case pretty much defeats the purpose of a rule).
